Hey everyone, I just read an article concerning some fantastic information on Yahoo news as of 2pm Thursday Sept 18th 2014. The article was written by a man named Rob Bricken and its entitled: “Bruce Timm is making a new “Darker” Justice League animated series.” This is what I read and I quote:

“Whoa! DCAU mastermind Bruce Timm will executive produce a new digital Justice League cartoon for Machinima to debut in spring of 2015. Titled Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, it will be co-produced by his Batman: The Animated Series partner Alan Burnett.

Originally announced as another DC direct-to-home video animated movie, Gods and Monsters Chronicles will now be a three-part digital series; according to Comic Book Resources it’s an original story by Timm which has nothing to do with the 2001 Justice League comic of the same name. Most tellingly (via Variety):

“Chronicles” is said to revolve around a newly conceived reality in the DC universe where Justice League members Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are much darker versions of the superheroes that people know.

I can’t be upset at the idea of any Bruce Timm-led DC animation, but does it really need to be darker? I swear, if DC continues this trend, eventually we’re going to get a Justice League that spends all its time murdering hoboes.”

It is not confirmed to the public if John Stewart, Hawkgirl or even if the Martian Manhunter would be a part of this roster, or if the New 52 cast would take center stage, however anytime John Stewart can be publicly endorsed whether it be comics, animation, or even social media talk, it brings more attention to the fact that Warner Bros. really needs to use this Green Lantern in the newly built Zack Snyder universe. The more that I think about it, the more I think that it is John Stewart’s turn in the drivers seat. Alan Scott paved the way for the expanded Green Lantern corps., Hal Jordan had is opportunity to be the face of the franchise back in the 80’s & 90’s era. However from the start of the 21st century, John Stewart is the face of the new school. The character of Hal Jordan had his chance with his movie as Ryan Reynolds portrayed him. Hal Jordan had his chance at a tv series and it didn’t go past the 1st season, the DC New 52 universe is trying so hard to make the public accept Hal as the one true Lantern, and I suppose DC Entertainment & Geoff Johns hate Bruce Timm so much for introducing this generation with the face of diversity and a well liked John Stewart. There’s absolutely no way that DC wants to move forward in the cinematic universe with a black Green Lantern, especially after fulfilling their quota of the token black guy in Cyborg, but they also realize that Warner Bros. is under tremendous pressure to not only make Batman v Superman and the Justice League compete in the box office revenue, but also with the Marvel universe. We all know that Batman, Wonder Woman & Superman is the big three on the team. Its casting has already undergone heavy scrutiny with Ben Affleck & Gal Gadot. And that’s two of the three trinity founding members. After them the fourth on the depth chart is in fact Green Lantern, regardless of which one you use. However the differences between Hal & John is so obvious that it should be a no brainer.

As the story goes, the ring wanted to choose between Hal & Guy, but because Hal was closer, he got the opportunity. So you see, Hal never even was able to establish himself beyond a jerk like Guy. Has anyone forgotten Hal’s track record. When coast city was destroyed, he went to the dark side and slipped on the yellow ring…who else did that, oh yeah; Sinestro! Meanwhile Guy slipped on a Red ring, and by the way both the Red Lanterns and Yellow Lanterns are the direct enemies of the Green Lanterns. But getting back to Hal, he was corrupted and was taken over not only by one but by two entities in Parallax and Spectre. He dismantled the Green Lantern corps. and defeated the guardians. He was never a true leader of the corps., he’s always been a jerk, somewhat selfish, cannot follow orders both as a pilot and a Green Lantern and he’s not a good leader of the corps., more evidence of this could be found in Justice League WAR based on the New 52. The only members of the Justice League that actually could tolerate Hal is Green Arrow & Flash, who both ironically has their tv series on the CW network. Then you look at John Stewart, he’s a former U.S. Marine and former Architect. Which means that his constructs should be one of the best if not the best in the entire corps.; and he was a former U.S. Marine, so if anyone should have developed true leadership skills it would be John over Hal. And many of us has seen that leadership unfold in the Justice League animated series. So that leads me to the question of what onscreen actor is popular and respected that could have that leadership presence. I couldn’t think of anyone else than actor Idris Elba. The females love and adore the man. The males respect his game, and the youth just wants to see John Stewart. Marvel hasn’t utilized this actor to his full potential in either Ghost Rider 2 or any of the Thor solo films. So DC/Warner Bros. has a golden opportunity here to cast an actor that the masses would actually like and would support, and with Batman & Superman having a rift to start out with, who better to be the voice of reason between Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, than an Idris Elba. This makes all the sense in the world. Its a win/win for everyone involved. The only ones who would hate this idea is the executive management team in DC as well as all the Hal Jordan fans. But the last time I checked, they all are in the minority, and when it comes down to what sells and making money, their opinions don’t mean a thing. John Stewart may not be perfect, but at least he wasn’t responsible for the destruction of the corps. The only reason why Kyle Rayner even exists as a Lantern is because of Hal treacherous actions. How’s that for fact’s.
