Tyrese Gibson Continues to Hint at Green Lantern Role

on June 26, 2015

Tyrese Gibson keeps teasing fans about landing the role of Green Lantern John Stewart in upcoming DC Cinematic Universe films. Once again, he’s taken to his Instagram account to post fan made images of himself and Chris Pine as John Stewart and Hal Jordan respectively.

#TheOath has been taken…..

That’s not all! When asked by ET about his involvement with Green Lantern, Gibson had this to say:

“There are certain things I can’t speak on. But I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.

Listen, these muscles are here and they’re ready to be used. There are lot of people, domestically and internationally, who’s got love with your boy. I’m coming into this thing with some fans and some box office receipts behind my name and I say that proudly and humbly. I just think I deserve a shot at suiting up and becoming the Green Lantern.”

It’s looking more and more like the rumors of a movie focusing on Hal Jordan and John Stewart are true. Many people are opposed to the idea of Tyrese playing John Stewart, but I am neutral at this point. We have a few weeks before San Diego Comic-Con. I think we should expect an announcement then.

Stay tuned!

I really wished the Hal Jordan rumors isn’t true.

I’m hoping for John to be a part of the JL, which is what I’m worried about.

I think John will have a role to play in the Justice League if he’s announced at Comic-Con. I don’t think WB would announce an actor for a role that is five years away.

      • Steve Rogers

That makes sense. If they do put both John and Hal in the GL movie, all of the credit may go all to Hal Jordan if the movie is a success. That’s why I disagree with putting Hal in the movie.

It’s upsetting when you think about it.

I’m just going to see what happens and how it’s done. I’m not crazy about the idea of John sharing things with Hal Jordan, but I’m not going into this being an alarmist, either. At this point, I’m just happy it sounds like we’re getting John on the big screen.

True. We’ll see what happens and see how important John’s role is going to be in the big screen.
