Green Lantern Mosaic Figure Debuted

on July 9, 2015

San Diego Comic-Con has begun and there is already good news for Green Lantern John Stewart fans. DC unveiled their line of collectibles for 2016 and a figure based on John Stewart’s Cully Hamner designed Green Lantern: Mosaic uniform was shown as part of the DC Icons line. The figure looks really good. One of the things I like is that it comes with a choice of either gloved or bare hands. John Stewart removing his white gloves actually has symbolic importance in Mosaic, but I think he looks silly without them, as if there’s a glaring aspect of his design that was left incomplete, so it’s great that buyers will have the option to have them on.

I really hope that this is a prelude to the Green Lantern: Mosaic series being collected in trade paperback, along with Green Lantern Vol. 3 #14-17, which the Mosaic series spun out from. Those issues really should have been collected a long time ago, as Mosaic is one of the best Green Lantern stories around, not to mention one of John’s most important showcases.

DC Collectibles has released a short commercial to advertise some of their upcoming figures. You can find John at the 0:15 mark.

Oa, by the way

The mosaic costume is amazing. Here’s hoping that John will make it as the leaguer into the JL film.

I actually don’t really care for the Mosaic uniform that much. The addition of the white gloves really make it look a lot better, in my opinion, though.

The costume is pretty different from the comic he and katma had the same suit but maybe this is a dc you remake . I hope they add a figure of him in the guardian rode to.

Actually, the figure is very accurate. John Stewart had two different uniforms in Mosaic. The figure is based on this one, which is his second Mosaic uniform:

Oh yeah this is from the Christmas issue I forgot it had changed. do you think that had any thing to do with his rise to being a guardian. Or they were just fooling suit design to see what looked good.

I think Cully Hamner, or someone, just wanted the suit redesigned. That suit made its debut in Mosaic #5. John changed it directly after he defeated Hal Jordan in a mind battle, so the switch is symbolic of something, but I’m not sure exactly what.
