Green Lantern Corps Movie Announced

on July 11, 2015

San Diego Comic-Con continues, and Warner Bros. has officially announced a Green Lantern Corps movie set to be released in the summer of 2020. Not much is known about this film yet. A Green Lantern movie was already announced for 2020, so the only new development is that the title has been changed. The focus on “Green Lantern Corps” instead of “Green Lantern” isn’t surprising at all. The Green Lantern brand was so heavily damaged from the 2011 film with Ryan Reynolds that it makes sense to focus instead on Green Lantern Corps.

I’m 100% sure we’ll see John Stewart, but let’s hope he’s the focus of the film. Green Lantern Corps is his brand, after all. No casting news has been released yet, so yeah… not a lot of new information here, which is disappointing.

GreenLantern.Co will keep you up to date with further developments.

I talked to someone who saw the concept art, and they’re pretty sure John was shown, so that is reassuring.

I’m starting to feel very excited! I really want John to be in the JL film so we don’t have to wait so long.

I’m really hoping he plays a good role in that film, too. DC/WB would be wise to get him on the screen soon with the rampant demand there is for the character.

It’s common sense to put John in the JL. DC/WB should be aware about the controversy. I’m already hearing the general public bringing up race about how they’re getting tired of these companies using the “white” hero instead of the black one.

Also, I heard that Chris Pine is on the concept art as Green lantern and John not being present at all. Hopefully that’s not true, but I only heard this from a few people, that are Hal Jordan fans though.

          • Desh Derringer

It’s common sense to do that, but we all know DC does not always employ common sense. Some of the high ups put sentimentality over common sense. Those Super Friends fans are essentially what has been holding John Stewart back for years.

You can’t trust what Hal Jordan fans say. They’re often extremely biased and will think what they like and see what they want. I’ve heard it said that there were multiple Green Lanterns in the picture. I’ve heard it said John was one them. I also heard that the images went by fast. The image that leaked online is too blurry to tell what is going on, to be honest.

Again, we’ll just have to sit back and wait for more information, which is honestly getting very tiring at this point.
